Expressions of interest are invited for a holiday in Provence, France
Thursday 30th May to Thursday 6th June 2024
Based at a welcoming rural guesthouse in Aurel, well-used to cycling groups and with good home cooking, this tour offers an exploration of the quiet lanes and medieval villages of the Vaucluse and Albion Plateaux in Provence. The climate is Mediterranean with olive and fig groves, vines and herbs, vultures and other exotic raptors.
One ride, usually of medium length, is led every day and there are shorter and longer rides, giving a choice of 14 routes altogether. For mountain enthusiasts there are optional ascents of the Montagne de la Lure and all three on-road ascents of Mont Ventoux. Routes can be ridden on any day, though the ascent of Mont Ventoux by the easiest route will be attempted when the clearest views are possible.
We will make our own arrangements for travel. There is a European Bike Express coach setting out on the 28th of May and picking up riders and their cycles from a range of places down the east side of England. After staying overnight at a hotel near Paris, this will get us to Orange in time for dinner opposite the Roman Amphitheatre. Next day it is a 70 km ride to Aurel.
